Photography is more than the act of capturing a moment—it’s a pursuit of what lies beneath the surface, the intangible essence that shapes our experiences. My work, rooted in the landscapes and people of the Texas Hill Country, strives to go beyond representation. My images are about something rather than merely of something, echoing Emanuel Kant’s notion that unseen forces underlie and give meaning to the visible world.

Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I was surrounded by lush, towering forests and rugged coastlines that imbued me with a deep appreciation for nature’s quiet power. My move to Texas offered a starkly different landscape and a sense of unease about its cultural contrasts. Yet, through my lens, I’ve discovered that the land—and the people who inhabit it—tell stories of shared resilience and connection. Daily life reveals that we share more in common than what divides us, a truth that infuses my work with hope and unity.

Whether through expansive landscapes or intimate environmental portraits, I aim to capture the universal qualities that resonate across time and place. My photography invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find meaning in the overlooked—the light behind the shadows, the stories beneath the surface, and the unseen that makes the visible so profoundly human.
